Project Manager – Space Solutions (m/f/x)

The Reutlingen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) represents the interests of companies and provides vital stimuli for the success and growth of the regional economy. It is a key link between businesses, politics, and administration. It provides information on day-to-day business concerns, helps companies join the international business arena, and addresses tomorrow's issues today.

Become a part of IHK Reutlingen, support our approx. 42,000 member companies, and also become part of the European network ESA BIC. 20 Business Incubation Centres (BIC) of the European Space Agency (ESA) in 17 European countries take on 180 startups each year. Since 2018, it has also been based in Friedrichshafen and Reutlingen. Together with Darmstadt, they form the ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg. In Baden-Württemberg, the ESA BIC is organized by the Institute for Knowledge Management and Knowledge Transfer (IHK-IWW) of IHK Reutlingen.

Space technology is ubiquitous in our everyday life. There are numerous opportunities for utilizing new space technologies in commercial applications. This transfer process, which goes beyond mere technology transfer, is subsumed under the term Space Solutions. The aim is for IHK member companies to benefit in particular from the opportunities offered by space technology.

What we offer:

  • International environment. Interacting with an international network, space experts and investors, you will represent the interests of our companies. We also foster your international networking through overseas trips.
  • Creative liberty. You will take on critical tasks from day one and work independently in a dynamic organization with short decision-making paths.
  • Diversity. You will gain diverse insight into the economy, in particular young companies with the latest trends and technologies.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will mentor startups with Space Solutions and assist them in business development, for example by establishing international partnerships and through special funding programs such as BASS and GSTP.
  • You will develop the existing investor network, which consists mainly of regional angel investors, into an international network. For this purpose, you will foster contacts and recommend and attend appropriate events.
  • For the inclusion of startups in the ESA BIC and the reporting process to ESA, you will assist the existing ESA BIC management with administrative duties and organize events.
  • As a project manager (m/f/x), you will be the ESA BIC's external representative and promote Baden-Württemberg as an attractive location for the field of Space Solutions.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • You identify with the startups' projects and assist them in their search for technology and business partners, as well as funding programs. You make it possible for founders to transform their business ideas into a product that is successful on the market.
  • From your space solution activities and your contact with founders, you identify opportunities for the non-space industry. You will communicate this potential to IHK member companies in a suitable manner. For this purpose, a partner network is planned, which you will have a significant hand in developing.
  • You will work within the ESA BIC network and in your international networks, and successively expand them. To this end, you will utilize the possibilities of social media, thereby getting interested companies involved in the activities of the ESA BIC in Baden-Württemberg, and bolster the PR activities of the ESA BIC.

"The use of Space Solutions is merely at its inception. The challenge now is to transfer the potential of earth observation and other technologies to entrepreneurial activities."
